The Yeshiva Institutions

The Yeshiva Campus in Mitzpe Yericho was founded by Rav Shabtai Sabato shlit”a.
The campus sits in the heart of the desert, facing Mount Nevo, where the unique silence and purity of the enchanting desert landscape broaden the mind and open the heart to spiritual and inner worlds.

The campus’s educational goal is to raise Torah scholars — bnei Torah of refined character and vision, engaged with the needs of the generation and the hour, working for the redemption of Israel, each according to his talents.
This goal is embodied in the campus’s many graduates engaged in Torah-educational work in Israel and worldwide: roshei yeshiva, kollel heads, teachers and community rabbis; pioneers strengthening settlement throughout our land, army officers, scientists and more…

The “Maor Tuvia” Yeshiva Gedola is a vibrant beit midrash raising bnei Torah — men of character and mission — who draw from the Torah of the Land of Israel and the teachings of Rav Kook zt”l. The yeshiva enables every student a long and meaningful period of study before and after military service, allowing the building of a complete spiritual personality.

Study at the yeshiva combines in-depth Talmudic analysis with studies in faith and inner spirituality, crowned by living divine service and gatherings that open the gates of the heart.

About 200 students and avreichim learn at the yeshiva. The avreichim live in the community and take part in the educational work in the area. The yeshiva is known for its warm, family atmosphere, with personal guidance from its rabbis in each student’s development, continuing through his path and military service.

From this rich inner world grow Torah scholars engaged with the needs of the generation, working for the redemption of Israel.

About 300 students study both religious and general studies at the yeshiva, at a high level that demands excellence.
The yeshiva has a unique method of Gemara study, in scope and breadth of knowledge. The broad familiarity with the world of the Gemara that this method gives awakens love of Torah in the students’ hearts and raises outstanding bnei Torah. Many of the students take on the mission of completing the entire Talmud and covering the entire Mishnah.

The yeshiva is known for a very high level of social life and activities, and in the evening hours a devoted, professional informal-education team leads the yeshiva.

Yeshivat Mitzpe Rehovot

Yeshivat “Mitzpe Rehovot” was founded by graduates of the Mitzpe Yericho yeshiva as an educational branch in the city of Rehovot. The yeshiva combines diligent Torah study using the mastery method founded by Rosh HaYeshiva Rav Shabtai Sabato, with high-level high-school studies and a drive for excellence.

At the heart of the yeshiva stands a devoted team of educators accompanying the students personally, around the clock, like family. Deeply connected to the Kiryat Moshe neighborhood where it operates, the yeshiva educates its students toward lives of mission, mutual responsibility and social involvement, aiming to raise bnei Torah connected to their people and their land.

Rabbinical Studies Kollel - 'Yeshuot Yom Tov'

The halacha kollel was founded within the “Maor Tuvia” Yeshiva Gedola under the leadership of Rav Shmuel Keder zt”l. Rav Keder zt”l established the kollel and taught in it for a few short years before passing away. Rav Yaakov Sabato now fills his deeply missed place.

Rav Keder zt”l was known for his exceptionally clear and organized method of halacha study, which he imparted to thousands of students over decades. The method is based mainly on his many books, best known of which is the responsa “Heichal Shlomo”, where Rav Keder presents, in clear language and great detail, answers to the questions asked in the rabbinical ordination exams.

Today the kollel has over 20 study pairs led by Rav Yaakov Sabato, with a program covering the rabbinical studies curriculum in five years. The study is in-depth, from the sources to practical halacha. In his shiurim Rav Yaakov broadens and deepens important topics, so each subject is learned from all sides with a complete picture beyond the exam material. In addition, to complement the learning, the Rav demonstrates some halachot in practice — for example shechita and the like.

Dayanut Kollel

The dayanut (rabbinical judges) kollel was founded in 5785 with the aim of training the halachic authorities and judges of the next generation, adding a level to the nation’s spiritual life and world of Torah law.

The kollel is headed by Rav Shlomo Kenigsberg, whose shiurim give a broad, comprehensive picture of the sugyot with command of the entire Talmud. Alongside him, Rav Moshe Cohen, a dayan from Yeshivat Beit El, delivers a weekly shiur and guides the group, focusing on the roots of the sugyot and deep understanding of the material.

The dayanut kollel is an integral part of the Yeshiva Gedola’s beit midrash — its members are an address for the yeshiva students, partners and present in yeshiva life, and an inseparable part of the yeshiva and avreichim community.

Kollel members receive enlarged stipends enabling them to devote themselves to their studies throughout the years of dayanut training and growth in Torah.

Shavei Tzion Program - for Students from Abroad

The Yeshiva Gedola’s Shavei Tzion overseas program is a bridge for young men from the Diaspora seeking to deepen their connection to Torah, the Land of Israel and the people of Israel.

The program integrates its students into the heart of the Yeshiva Gedola’s beit midrash, while providing a framework of shiurim in English including Gemara study in depth and breadth, classes in faith and Jewish thought, and personal guidance from the program’s rabbis.

Alongside growth in Torah, the program includes an authentic Israel experience — trips, shared Shabbatot, and encounters with the landscapes of the Land of Israel and the Mitzpe Yericho community.

The combination of a high learning level with a warm, family atmosphere, together with getting to know the expanses of the Land of Israel, gives students tools to build their Torah personality out of a sense of mission, and forges an unbreakable bond with Israel’s heritage and the process of redemption in our land.

The "Lema'an Amo Be'ahava" Movement

Grew out of the great spirit of the yeshiva’s Torah, uniting all the educational enterprises and missions that have emerged from the Yeshiva Gedola over the years.

Among the many enterprises: Torah settlement groups, dozens of community and town rabbis, hundreds of teachers and educators and more. The movement is a living expression of the campus’s purpose — raising Torah scholars of refined character with national responsibility toward the public sphere in Israel, out of a deep sense of mission and love of Israel.

The “VeHalachta B’drachav” Institute works to strengthen the world of character and values in the spirit of the Torah of the Land of Israel. The institute serves as a content center and publishing house, with the goal that the batei midrash become national workshops for lofty sacred values and a refined way of life flowing from the Torah’s source.

The institute’s activity includes publishing books and study booklets, producing digital content, and holding study days devoted to clarifying fundamental halachic and value questions in a range of fields. Through this varied Torah creativity, the institute seeks to deepen the connection to values and strengthen character refinement, building yirat shamayim connected to life itself.

The Beit Din and Beit Hora'ah

The Beit Din and Beit Hora’ah are the practical halachic arm of the campus institutions, providing comprehensive Torah guidance to the wider public. The Beit Hora’ah answers halachic questions in all areas of life, striving to make the word of Hashem accessible and guide questioners along the paths of halacha with clarity and warmth.

Alongside it, the Beit Din seeks to restore Torah law to its central place in economic and commercial life. The Beit Din is a branch of the “VeHalachta B’drachav” Institute, headed by Rosh HaYeshiva Rav Yitzchak Chaim Sabato. Its activity is guided by the yeshiva heads; until his appointment as a dayan in the Rabbinical Court, the Beit Din was led by yeshiva graduate Rav Yeshua Ratbi shlit”a, ordained as a dayan and city rabbi by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel.

The Beit Din works to resolve disputes and bring peace between people through judgment and compromise, with a broad Torah perspective and social responsibility. Together, the institutions aim to be a professional, accessible halachic address bringing the spirit of Torah into practical life.

The “Recorded Talmud” and “Visual Talmud” institutes were founded by the head of the campus institutions, Rav Shabtai Sabato, out of a vision to make Talmud study accessible and enable every Jew to cover and remember the tractates of the Gemara with clarity. The institutes are a breakthrough in study methods, combining listening, seeing and deep understanding to create a complete picture of learning.

The “Recorded Talmud” project offers fluent shiurim on the entire Talmud, accompanying the learner step by step and helping spread Torah among tens of thousands in Israel and worldwide. Alongside it, the “Visual Talmud” series makes complex sugyot accessible through diagrams and clear graphic structure, aiding understanding of the Gemara’s flow and serving hundreds of schools and educational institutions today. Together, the institutes provide practical tools for fundamental Torah study and acquiring mastery of the entire Talmud.
